How can i make my clothes smell good after washing

Question

after i was my clothes they dont really smell good

i dont want to use baking soda because it whitens your clothes

and i dont want my colors to fade

i use tide liquid for front loaders, original scent.. and for my whites i use that, along with 1/4 cup of bleach

how can i make my clothes smell better after washing them?? or DURING washing them?

You might try using Downey in your rinse cycle.  That always makes my clothes smell fresh.  I think it depends on the type of detergent you use, too.

Get the downy ball! and then you can put fabric softener in it and toss it into the washing machine with your clothes. There are so many scents of fabric softener (the liquid kind) on the market now, and they all smell so good! And you can also use dryer sheets (fabric softener sheets) for when you dry your clothes. There are a lot of different dryer sheets out there, with different scents and everything.

Also, if your clothes have that mildew smell make sure to dry them promptly after the washing cycle is done.

I'd use Downy Fabric Softener in the final rinse cycle.  Since its summer, I sometimes will put my clothes in the dryer for a few minutes, just to fluff them up a little.  I take the damp clothes out of the dryer and hang them up, and then I take those clothes and hang them by the hanger on my clothes line outside....not to mention the electricity I save by doing that.  I love the way they smell.  Nice and fresh!

I use Downy fabric softener and it makes my clothes smell good.

You could add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the final rinse instead of fabric softener.  It will leave the clothes smelling clean, no vinegar scent remains.  It also acts as a fabric softener, without building up on the fabric.
