How can i make my computer fast again?

Question

my computer used to be fast, but one day i downloaded a file, and after that, my computer has been preforming very slowly, is there a program could get orsomething i could do to make my computer normal again

For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Spyware/Adware

RAM

De-Fragmenting

Etc.

Below can help you speed up your pc:

For  IE, click Tools, Internet Options  delete files (offline files) clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want) click o.k., and Restart

For Firfox, press ctrl+shift+del, and click clean private data.

Manage your startup:

Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

De-Fragmenting

1. Right click of C Disk.

2. Click properties.

3. Click tools tab.

4. Click "Defragment now".

5. Click Defragment.

You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.

Under steps:

1. right click on the TaskBar.

2. click the Task Manager.

3. click the processes tab.

4. double click the CPU.

5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

6. if not right click and click end process.

theres a lot of ways.but first try this.click on start,then accessories,then system tools, then disk clean up.after u clean ur C drive, do the same steps but this time do defragment (not disk clean up).i do it evry 2 weeks.if that don't solve the problem,u probably need to scan ur files for worms(virus) since u said u download a file.use ur mcaffe or any scanner u have installed in ur pc.third option,add some memory but i was hoping the first trick should do the job.good luck!

i'm not a real pro or anything but if u noticed the problem after downloading and executing a file i would run a virus and spy program scan hopefully detecting and deleting the virus.

or you can run system restore, which is quite easy, and go back to a spot before you downloaded that file.

It sure is a sign of a virus that had entered into your computer system. Try  un-installing the program and then follow the steps below:-

Go to http://lavasoft.com/ and download the free version of ad-aware. Install the software and let the program scan your computer. After finished, your computer should be back to normal.

Go to http://free.avg.com/ww.download-avg-anti... and download the free anti virus. Run a scan after you installed the software. This should also helps to clean your pc of any virus.
