How can i make my corrupted external hdd readable again???

some friend of mine took it from me and put it in his pc and now it is not working.can anyone help???

is there physical damage? or is it  just software damage?

software- run a repair (or slave it pull the data off and format)

physical damage - drop it (may take more than once)  ( I know sounds wierd but has worked for me) if you can get it to read.... run a program like getdata back to recover what you can

physical damage - freeze it (seal it in a ziplock bag to prevent condensation) ( havent tried this one allways use the drop method but I have heard of this way working as well)

The only other alternative is to send the failed drive to a hard drive recovery company

you will not get your files but if you right click on it and then format it you can use it again.

You could try running chkdsk /r on the drive.  It will find and correct any errors on the drive.  If that doesn't help, it might have just gone bad.
