How can i make my dirt back yard look good for a party?

I want to have a surprise birthday party for my husband/ anniversary party but i have a dilemma, my front yard has nice green grass but it's the front yard! My backyard is all dirt! I already looked into grass but it's like 400 dollars does anyone have any ideas for a dirt backyard? I want it to look nice and also any ideas on a theme? he's turning 27 and it's our 2 year anniversary; the party is at the end of next month so i have some time to plan.

mulch is great and cuts down on any weeds that blow over into your yard.

Look into maybe some outdoor carpet. It's pretty cheap depending on how much you plan on covering.

Mulch it. It looks great and you can use it for a  garden later.

A beach theme maybe throw sand all over your back yard but i don't know how much that will cost.

Oh yeah but just dived the back yard with a sunset picture just get wire and put it fence to fence top and bottom might have to buy a couple though but it will cut the yard in half

I think the dirt will not be a problem if you decorate at an upper level. String some white coil lights, set some small tables out with decorative cloths on them. Use flowers in vases, anything to keep the eyes at a higher level. I am not sure where you live but maybe buy some mums and set them at an elevated level. If you do a fall theme buy some bales of hay for seats and to put plants, gourds, and apples on.

well if ur into this you could get the dirt wet and have like mud volleyball; or have the guys play football; or even mud wrestling, and if your really trusting have the girls get into it to.
