  2. I think my best tip for drawing faces, animals and people - is to trace pictures and photographs. I know it seems like cheating but it helps you get familiar with the shape and it makes you more confident that you can produce great works of art. If you try to draw a face from scratch without practising by tracing, you'll just get frustrated when it doesn't turn out how you want it to look.

Another tip is to try drawing people you don't know. (ie. NOT celebrities.) It's easy to draw a face but it's very very difficult to get that face to *look* like a certain person. If you draw some random person, you won't be as frustrated when you can't get the nose right or whatever because you won't recognise them.

Don't stick to one way of drawing. A good tip for getting good at drawing recogniseable shapes like faces and bodies, is to practice drawing it as a line drawing, then shaded pencil, then paint etc. Different methods of drawing use different disciplines.

Try drawing cartoon faces. It's a good to get you used to drawing faces and expressions and you don't have to bother about everything being accurate or using shading.

have fun and good luck xxxxxx

  3. You just pointed out the root of your problem - you draw from imagination.

You can't draw realistically unless you LOOK really hard and really well, and the only thing that can make you do that is by having the subject right in front of your eyes (either the actual thing or a photograph). Drawing from imagination is good, too, but it has it's limits if you want to draw something accurately (realistically).

  4. when drawing a face maybe you should look at you or your friends face to see like where the eyes are and the nose ect.
