  1. by another gerbil...or if the squeking is anoying u then buy a cat and put iot in the cage with it.

  2. Play with him a little more! Just DONT put another gerbil in his cage they like to kill or eat each other! Your gerbil could be having night mares or just needs to get over the fact that his friend is gone!! Good luck!! Plz e-mail me and tell me how he/she died (click on my pic)!!:)

  3. Try buying another one this may help mend your poor little guy's heart. :)

  4. It is not always easy to introduce a gerbil to an older gerbil but it is possible.  If you decide to get one you will have some work ahead of you.  It is called the split cage method and it does work.  You basically have to put a divider in your cage that is strong enough to prevent one gerbil from getting to the other side.  I have done this and it has worked every time but it still no guarantee they will get along in the end.

Place one gerbil on either side of the divider. The whole concept behind the split cage intro is to give the gerbils time to become use to each other's scent, while preventing fights.

Four to five time a day carefully switch the gerbils to opposite sides of the split cage.

Continue this routine for one week.

Now remove the divider. Wear heavy gloves in case they should fight.

Plan to watch them carefully for five to six hours, or longer. (Removing the divider is best done on a day that you have at home.) Do not leave them unwatched together until they sleep in the same nest. If you need to leave them replace the divider.

If the introduction has gone well they will be use to each other's scent, and no fight will break out.

If a fight breaks out separate them immediately, and start all over again. "Boxing" is okay, but rolling in a ball fight or one springing in the air as the other chases are signs of serious fighting.

You know that they have accepted each other when they settle down to grooming and are sleeping together in the same nest.

Gerbils do need companionship and are generally more happy with a companion.  Male gerbils are easiest to introduce.  Females can be more aggressive with each other and they are usually more difficult.  Keep in mind if your gerbil is very old he may not want a companion.  You may want a spare cage just in case if you decide to get another gerbil.
