  1. You may never change the hamster, some hamsters do not like to play / /socialize with other people or hamsters. It may just want to be left alone, you can try just leaving your hand near or kind of far away but still within reach somewhat of the hamster and eventually it may get curious and come up to you, eventually.

  2. If you don't like putting your hand in the cage with him, you aren't going to teach him to trust you. The ones that don't care if you hold them have been hand-trained.

You have two choices- stick you hand in and let him get used to you, or forget the whole idea- give the hamster away to someone who will take the necessary effort in training him.

  3. try to pet him when hes eating or sleeping. and then he might see that your not causing any harm and that you just wanna be his friend.

itll take time for your hammie to get used to u

  4. ~ Hi ~ ! I'm sure your hamster will adjust to you, it will just take time. As another smart contributor pointed out gently petting your hamster at first will help your hamster adjust to your touch and scent. When a hamster bites it's out of fear and the fear manifests through aggression. The important thing is patience, patience, patience ... And not to stop spending time with your hamster because you're fearful.

The other thing to think about is how are you approaching the hamster? If your approaching the hamster by reaching down that can be scary for hamster (in the wild they are swooped upon by birds), so it's a natural instinct to react in fear. So, always be sure you're reaching in from the side.

Also, you may want to think about offering the food after you've played with your hamster (as a kind of reward). If your hamster is smelling the food on your hands he may think it's food and just be biting because he thinks it's more food not to be aggressive. I have always washed my hands with a gentle cleanser before handling all the hamsters I've owned.

Just keep playing with your friend and he will adjust to you. =)
