How can i make my own saddle pad?

is there a site that has patterns for FREE for saddle pads, helmet covers, and saddle covers. any suggestions?

  1. we used to make square saddle pads out of old blankets folded over with a running blanket stitch all around the outside in a contrasting colour and the horse's name embroidered in the same colour.


  2. No, there is nothing free. But what i did was i borrowed one of my trainers saddle pads and i traced it onto fabric that i picked out from a fabric store, cut it out and sewed it, leaving a little room for stuffing. Then I took thick quilted fabric, traced that too and put it inside, sewed the little space up and voila, i had a saddle pad. Costs around $10 if you buy discount fabric and around $25 if you get expensive fabric. Good luck!
