How can i make my pc run games better?

I can run COD4, Assasins Creed, Crysis Etc. but its really laggy... what can i do to run them smoothly. as in buy.

Hard Drive: 239 GB

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Monitor: 19' LCD

Sound Card: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)

u need to upgrade ur processor to core 2 duo 2.2+ghz.or upgrade the graphic card to geforce 8800gt.

either of the two will do it because ur other specs are pretty good.

Lag isn't all about hardware and line speed, often it can be about how well u look after your pc lots of little things can clog up ur pc.

Make sure u regularly delete ur windows temp file, internet temp files and cookies, optimize ur virtual memory (search online if u dont know best settings) and close any unnecessary programs with windows task manager (u can also find lists online of what is safe to close down).

Lots more u can do would have to write an essay for it all but 1 last thing keep emptying ur game cache (kinda obvious but some dont know it)

seems like you have real good hardware, just make sure all your drivers are up to date and make sure there are no processes running while playing the games.
