  1. Hello!  A light color on the walls (light beige) will give the feeling of openness.  You can go to a store where stackable containers or filing cabinets are sold and buy enough to put all the papers out of sight.  Be sure to label the stackables or file drawers.  When your space is neater you will be happier, and you can then see what else can be moved, thrown away, or filed away.  Good luck!

  2. I would suggest using a maroon color on your walls given your brown furniture. I'd normally suggest using a light color that brings energy, but I think maroon walls would look great. My aunt has dark brown floors with maroon walls which makes her place look luxurious.

  3. I just finished our Master Bedroom with soft contrasting shades of chocolate. I got the color idea from one of the paint stores free pamphlets. The paint name was Behr, and the colors were:

    Wild Manzinita

    Mountain Ridge

    Creek Bend

As for the papers being all over the place, take the time & get organized then stay organized.  Depending on the amount of paperwork you generate will determine how much storage you'll need.  If you're telecommuting, you're probably going to need some kind of two drawer file cabinet.  You decide how you want to further break it down.

If you're dealing with personal/home paperwork, you might want to use something as simple as a three ring binder with labeled dividers for each of your categories.

Break out the shredder. I like to streamline the work load.  If there something that's no longer important, get rid of it.  Don't take a trip down memory lane with each piece of paper.  Either you need it, or you don't - shred it.  After having recently gone through a flood, I wished I had gotten rid of a lot more of my paperwork.  The lighter the load, the less organizing you'll have to do.

The multi-tier shelves are helpful.  Use them for In-Out, or Urgent, Routiene, Next Day.  Just don't let them become paper catchers.  Once you get yourself organized, take a look at how good your office looks.  It looks good, and you're feeling good about yourself too.  You'll be more apt to keep it this way after you put in all the effort to get it looking the way you want it to look.  Good luck! :-)

  4. Hate to say this, but, ORGANIZE and TOSS! After that, empty the room. Choose your favorite color and put it on a wall. Set your computer desk/table against that wall - the choice of color will bring you incentive since it's your favorite.  The 3 other walls could be more of the same color or go opposite/complimentary, etc. on the color wheel (check this out on-line or at the paint store). It's what appeals to you that will determine this choice. Next - Filing cabinets, adjustable shelving units, storage/rolling crates, etc. Prioritize what you use most vs. least and store accordingly. Some things need to be within reach, others, not so much. And as hard as it is to do - put things away when your done with it. Good Luck - LT

  5. you should get filing cabinets or make a filing system somehow to clear up the papers first. clear off the desk you work at because that makes everything better! then i would paint the room a soothing color like a light brown sandy color, or a light blue so it's refreshing and doesnt give you a headache. a light yellow is also very happy :) ! but to compliment the brown id go with a light blue, unless you like green better. haha hope that helped :)!
