  1. They should be fed on land. Dont feed your turtle snails feed it turtle food. And as for it liking you, you said you just got it give it a chance to adjust to you. try handle it so it knows yo are a friend to it. And as a treat put some small fish in the water for it to eat.

  2. It depends on what kind of turtle you have. You didn't specify the species. >< There are turtles that are naturally aggressive or afraid of humans and there are turtles that grow used to people. However, all bite.

Well, since you mentioned "being fed underwater," I'm assuming it is an aquatic turtle, like a red-eared slider, which I have. Turtles like red-eared sliders are usually scared during the first few days in their new home, so yours is probably a little timid.

You just need to feed it as you normally do, and over time, it will grow used to the fact that whenever you appear, it means food time, so it will come out to greet you and beg for food (mine go crazy and claw at the glass). If your turtle is a red-eared slider or similar to it, it is fed underwater (though sometimes it'll go on land to snatch a cricket and then go back underwater to eat it).

My turtles eat aquatic turtle pellets, crickets, and feeder goldfish. I don't feed them snails much because they tend to mistake them for aquarium gravel. A turtle just snaps up the snail, crushing it in its mouth, shell and all.

  3. Also, turtles do need plants to eat occasionally and offer it small bits of fruit...strawberries, melon (without the seeds).

Do NOT feed it ice burg lettuce, as there is no nutrition in that kind.  Kale is a good lettuce to feed and remember to remove any fruits or plants that they do not eat in a days time, to help keep the tank cleaner.

My RES LOVE to eat earth worms.  My babies get store bought (no chemicals from the ground) and I dice them up (yes, I  rinse off the dirt and cut up live worms) for them.

They also get small feeder fish (rosy reds) twice a month.

they also love the dried krill.  Please make sure to feed them (it) a good quality turtle food (please not wardley's from walmart).

They NEED a good , total UV spectrum lighting for 8-12 hours a day and an area where they can get out of the water to bask.

Please do understand that turtles live many years and grow quite LARGE and an aquarium may be fine for now but not for too long

They carry salmonella (food poisoning) so you MUST wash and sanitize after each interaction with it or the water.

Please read and research everything you can about turtle care.

Good luck  and I hope this may help.

  4. He will get used too you as a food source. Feed him underwater since they cannot make they're own saliva. FInally.....you shouldn't feed them snails it could choke them...Feed him krill, bloodworms, mealworms and other feeder fish.
