How can i make some realistic home made artificial blood???

i need it for a play at school. and i need a way to apply it in a realistic way as well.

for my play, i used a latex gel, with red food coloring. it can be applied with a brush, and when it dries into the spot, it will look a lot like blood. A member of the audience actually asked how we made the character look like he was really bleeding. The latex gel should be available at you local lowes, and food coloring should be at a grocery store. UR WELCOME:))))))

Mix together:

1 Corn syrup … you can find this clear syrup at the grocery store in the syrup section. Look for the Karo brand.

2 Food coloring … Use mainly red, and you might want to add a little blue or purple to make the blood look darker.

3 Milk … A little milk will make the blood look more opaque (you can’t see through it).

In the movie Psycho (the original) The blood in the shower sceen was actually chocolate syrup. :) Worked since it was black and white

Ooh I know this one Karo syrup and red food coloring.  You'll have to play around until you get the consistency right, but when you do it's worth it because it really looks like blood.

might have to keep it a secret until the last day before. I can definitely see some whiny teacher shutting you down because they deem it inappropriate, but hey if you want to make an entertaining play you can't do it halfway!

BTW food coloring will NOT bond well with vegetable oil

Food coloring and vegetable oil or something like it. look up indy mogul, he has a bunch of do it yourself special effects.

Just buy an artificial or vegetable red color for food, like for cupcakes.
