How can i measure my sub box to see what the volume of it is?

I bought a sub box from a friend and he never told me what the volume of it was. I figured i should get around to finding out before i buy some subs so what is a way i can find out? Measure it?

  2. you need a instrument that measures db (decibels) (cant spell it) but thats the way forward :)
