Question:

How can i motivate others to...?

Hi. i am working with about 9 sellers and they are starting to get down on them self and need more positive energy and motivation!

I normally clap and yell fun things! but i'm looking for something to make them laugh and get back into a happy mode.. not so much a i'm hear mode!

Any suggestions?

  1. Money always motivates people. Try making a "spiff" like first person to make a sale gets $20 cash. Or the first 5 sales gets a free gas card. In sales things like that always work.

    Well, if money isn't motivating, maybe you made a poor choice in the sales people you hired. Or maybe you have someone spreading negativity in the office. Or maybe what your selling just sucks. I don't know.

Your job is to care for your salesmen and give them good reasons to perform.  Incentives are the best.   You also need to take another look at your products and point out new benefits to them.   Get customer feedback from loyal customers and let them read them.  They need to know (again) that you have a good product.  

    Right now with the economy the way it is, it's even harder to sell high ticket items.  You have to concentrate on quality, thriftiness, and (in the case of cars) gas mileage.  I would hate to be selling SUVs now.

    Money in a poker game?  THAT is a bad idea.  It doesn't depend on sales, but skill AND its a winner-takes-all game.  Stick with sales incentives.
