  1. It's a good feeling kid. You should be nervous before a fight. The shaky feeling goes away after the first few puches.

  2. Fear is a sign of warning, don't try to think. You been doing this so much it should be second nature. Take advantage at the fact that you have fear because your opponent would be feeling the same to. Good luck.

  3. That's a real good question. You should look up other fighters and see what they do before a fight.

Benny Uriquidez, a great champion kickboxer, used to take a nap before a fight.

Tyson was I believe, a mess before a fight.

This is Sean Sherk's answer to that question:

A lot of fighters, even at the elite level, still sometimes get the jitters. How do you handle those?

I get the jitters every time. I've never had a wrestling match or a fight, regardless of how tough or how easy the opponent, where I don't get nerverus every single time. I think that's a good thing, though. When I start not getting nervous, it's not going to be a good thing. Nerves can make you or nerves can break you. I think in my case, they make me. They make me perform better. So it sucks to get nervous before a fight, but it's something that's kind of a necessity. It's part of the deal.

So you see? Everybody get's nervous and there's nothing wrong with it. I think the only thing is if you let the nervousness get to you, you end up spending way too much energy without doing anything. Then when you're in the fight you might be too tense or you may even tire quickly.

I was never able to overcome prefight jitters. So I tried the sleeping thing. I was able to sleep and I felt not too bad. Plus I didn't spend tons of energy waiting for the fight (the fights were always at night).

  4. Be nervous when you're NOT nervous before a fight. It means you have taken someone lightly. Take that energy and focus all of it on your plan, to win. The problem cannot be resolved.

  5. Fear is good, embrace it, because it will keep you on your toes.  do little things like deep breaths, listening to music, etc. to calm your nerves, but don't ignore the fear
