How can i open an account for trading stocks?

I would like to start investing and trading stocks but am not sure how to open an account to do it. Any suggestions?

as a beginner i think you should start with a "mutual fund" which is comprised of many stocks there-by providing more security.  talk to any brokerage firm--research and get all info you can and ask questions---what is their selling price compared to the "net asset value price" [nav]-----mine is called the "franklin income fund"---your local bank also has an investment dept. which can handle any investment you want including "franklin"
