You can try microsoft remote desktop, requires slight advanced computer skills but.

Control panel -> [classic view] -> System -> Remote tab -> check 'Allow users to connect remotely to this computer'

You must also port forward 3389 on the remote computer's router.

On your home computer: Run -> mstsc -> input the remote computer's IP address and login [remote pc must have a passworded user account to login]

There are also many 3rd party programs that can do it much simpler. TeamViewer is quite good i've found (free for home use), it by-passes all the messy configurations and connects straight through. Must be installed on both computers. And a password must be set on the remote computer's teamviewer to stop it changing. The program itself is fairly self-explainatory.
