How can i or what should i buy to waterproof a nylon bag?

i have a nylon stuff sack for a sleeping bag and its a compression bag too so it could be waterproof if the nylon was waterproof. is there a product i can buy to waterproof it? like you can do with boots

You can buy Scotch-Gard in the sporting goods department of stores like Wal-Mart (also in the automotive department). It's an aerosol can. You spray it on material and it makes it more water resistant. Note I said water resistant, not waterproof. Water can still get through the material eventually, but it does a good job of repelling water. The only way to completely waterproof material is to coat it with rubber like a rainsuit.

The Scotch-Gard works on a lot of material, from furniture in the kids' room to blue jeans to snow ski in.
