How can i overcome my fear of spiders?

Question

I have been given a wonderful opportunity renovate my garage.

My parents have even hired a skip for me and given me £100 to do what i like with the place.

the problem is i am terrified of spiders and the place is swarming with them.

iv only seen 1 or 2 in there since i moved in 9 years ago, as i am rarely in there, but the rafters are filled with GIANT cobwebs.

I really want to renovate this place for me and my friends to chill out in but cant get over my fear. Anyone have any tips?

I think about it this way: Most spiders in the garage are NOT poisonous (but rather harmless) and help kill annoying insects. Wear gloves if you have to when clearing the cobwebs.

when you see a spider dont get scared because they wont hurt you because they only eat flies their actually helping us by eating bugs so we dont get bit by them.

I suggest that you learn as much as you can about spiders and develop a deep knowledge of them, because fear arises from lack of knowledge.

I remember I lived in some motel-like rooms with some friends.  I became exasperated by attempts to remove spiders from my room.  One day I threw my hands up and made peace with the spiders.  They left - and went to my friend's room - he was screaming one day because he food a spider in his shower.  I told him I made peace with the spiders. He said, "Yeh, and they came over here!"  I got quite a laugh out of that one!

Spiders do a wonderful job of killing other bugs.  I would keep their cobwebs, if others didn't see it as being so messy.
