How can i paint my car?

so the paint on my bumper is flaking off after 5 months. I have the left over paint that my dad mixed but it seems thick. Im going to put it in an aerosol can but what i need to know is what reducer or paint thinner do i need to stretch it out. And how much should i thin it out. ihave about 1/3 of a quart of mixed paint. He put the paint in a diff container so there are no instructions. its for a 95 civic (red) mixed with pearl.

I admire your interest/enthusiam in doing the painting job yourself. First, do you have a compressor and spray gun? I bet you have. First things first, clean the portion of your bumper thoroughly with fine sand paper, keep away from dust, moist, oil and dirt. Bring your left over paint to a paint dealer to determine what kind of thinner you'll be buying and to get some pointers in mixing the thinner with the paint. Use a fine strainer when pouring the paint into the spray gun to prevent clogging in the spray nossle. Don't forget to cover the other body parts that should not be painted with old newspapers and conduct a spray test on other surfaces before spraying on the bumper.  This is to check if the color matches with the original one.
