How can i partition my hard drive?

i need to make a few more local disks other than my drive C. what's the easiest way to do that?

well, to re-partition your hard-drive you will have to re-format the HDD. and reinstall your OS. you can use the tool that is inside the windows installer disc, allowing you to re-partition the hard disk, or u can use a specific software, for example Paragon Partition Manager, to re-partition your hard drive.

P.S. you may not have to reformat your hard disk if there is unpartitioned and unlabeled (unformatted) space on your HDD.

On Windows this is not a good idea. Reducing the size of the C: drive can run you out of disk space very quickly, as every program you load will add many library files and registry entries to C: and you can not prevent this.

There is no use for individual drives on Windows, you are better to just create folders for each  section you want isolated.

You can put another harddrive in, then use disk management in Windows to format and partition it. If you want to partition the drive you already have then thats not so easy and comes with some risks, like loosing everything.

If you are doing a fresh build you can do it using the windows setup, when if asks what drive you want to install windows on there are options to create partitions.

I hope you have a single drive with your operating system installed in it. So its better to use Partition Magic software to make it easier. First off all try to learn how to do it.

Don't bother with software like Partition Magic...just put the original computer disc in (e.g. Windows XP) and follow the instructions.
