  1. I've done this a few different ways and the absolute best way is to install an ipod-ready head unit with a USB connection. I have a Pioneer P5000B.  It set me back less than $200 with the wiring kit.  It is slick, sounds great, and controls your ipod (charges it too).  comes with remote control.

  2. Go to your local wal-mart and into the electronics department. They have a whole section of stuff for iPods. There is an adapter you plug into a cigarette lighter that and into your iPod. It has a FM broadcaster that you set to a radio station not in use in your area. Then you turn on whatever song you want and it plays through your radio.

  3. If you have an auxiliary plug in your dash, you can buy an auxiliary cord to place from the headphone jack of the iPod to the dash.

If you don't, you can purchase a FM Transmitter from Best Buy, or Circuit City. Check their sites online.

You can also find a tape transmitter if you have a tape/cassette player in your car.

(BEWARE: The FM transmitter will not have good sound quality if you do not have blank/unused FM radio stations in your area. Tape transmitters will not have the best sound quality, but are generally consistent as opposed to FM transmitters which loose sound quality as you drive through different ares of town)

  4. you  have to buy a special connecting cord

    Bestbuy or target

  5. you need a chord that plugs into your cars headphone jack and into your ipods head phone jack. you can play your ipod through the cars radio this way.
