  1. RELAX.  It is important to get pumped up, but you can over do it, especially if you are freaked out ahead of time.  Visualization is a great thing.  Just sit back, breathe deep and get calm.  Then "see" your races as you expect to swim them---visualizing the things that you are supposed to do.  Keep your thoughts to what you need to do, not what others are doing (stay in your lane).

After the race, either write down or make some mental notes about some things that went well and other things that your coach has said you need to work on.  Then you can review these things before the next time you swim that particular race.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

  2. eat a c**p load of pasta the night before.

    listen to pump up music.

    play polish ping pong.

have fun with your team mates

dance on top of a van

    make fun of your coach

    play Super Smash Bros. Brawl

    don't just swim fast, race.

  3. I swim on a year round competitive team, so i prepare for meets all of the time. Most people think that your supposed to eat good on the night before. Thats true, except you have to watch your nutrition 3 or 4 days prior to the meet.

Here are the steps to preparing for a successful swim meet:

-- Work on your mental game. Always boost yourself with confidence.

" Its your world, we just live in it."

    - Go to bed earlier the night before. Get AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep.

    - It will probably be hard to sleep due to nervousness. Try and forget about the meet. Its a regular night.

    - In the morning, don't shove yourself with so much food that you feel like going back to sleep. Eat a light, nutritious meal.

    - Always have a positive attitude on the ride to the meet. Again, continue to build your self confidence.

    - Arrive early at the meet. Get to know your surroundings. The meet could last several hours.

    good luck !!

  4. So a while before the swim meet you've got to hydrate and take it easy at practice, don't push yourself before a meet.

-Eat a lot of carbs the night before (teryaki, pasta)

    -Get a lot of rest

-If you swim in the morning eat a light breakfast and snack on power bars, if swimming in the afternoon eat a large breakfast

    -listen to your favorite music

-pack bag and make sure you have all the stuff you need

    -visualize your race

    -stretch

-Have fun, hang out with friends, this is the most important if you are not enjoying yourself then you will not swim well.

  5. like the first guy said. when you swim your races THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! dont think about whos ahead or behind, concentrate on your strokes and your breathing. go as fast as you can as hard as you can.

  6. the pasta trick only works if you do it two or three nights before...

honestly don't think about it....i have been in your position....and i   just stayed calm and thought about other things....when i went to nationals i didn't even think about it i just kinda went. ohh and stay warm at the meet!! and have fun thats what the sport is about!

    GOOD LUCK!

im sure you will do great
