How can i prevent my parents from hearing me talk at night (on the home phone)?

is there any way for them to think that the line is not busy (all they hear is the dial tone) when they pick it up..?

um.. how about not talking on the phone at night.  My oldest does this and it keeps me up.  Her voice booms through the house.  Respect for your parents need for sleep should be the main consideration.  

Either that or get an extension in the garage where no one will hear anything.

if u have 2 line switch 2 ur second and when ur parents pick up they be on da first

If you want some privacy... then just use your cell phone... or TELL ur parents that u want some.
