How can i protect myself from hacking?

This guy was able to figure out my first name somehow though myspace, even though i left no trace of it on my account at all. How was this possible? Is there anything i can do to stop this?

use spybot, Nortan anti virus, or SuperAntiSpyWare free edition.

Hide yourself behind a firewall like Comodo Firewall or Online Armor Firewall.... both free....... and rated at the top of the list....that blocks their access unless you allow it
