  1. work on your core muscles and work on proper punching technique. most importantly go to a boxing gym and start to work with a trainer.

  2. Make sure that you have your left leg forward, with your knee slightly bent and your right leg back. Feel a loose bounce in the stance.

Bring your right arm to your side, as you do this twist at the waist.

Stay loose until the final moment.

Right before you land the punch, tighten your body and unleash a mighty scream. This will focus your body and tighten your muscles releasing more power. Also it boosts your own morale and this will help in case of a continued confrontation.

Aim strictly for the jaw, the middle of the chin if you are accurate enough. There is a nerve you can hit by striking the jaw upwards to rupture the nerve and knock your opponent out

  3. use your hips and pivot your back foot. your hips will give you a ton of power you'd be surprised

  4. with my experience i've learned to throw harder you must get stronger, pushups and pullups are a great workout for upper body. you need to get a stronger core. when you punch properly you are twisting your body and your using your whole upper body. weight training isnt really neccessary but it does help. your own body weight truly is enough to work with. try a hand stand press when pushups wont cut it or one legged squats for a strong trunk.  increase your stamina as well .3 minutes is a long time and unless your kaseem uma and your used to throwing 1100 punches a fight you will be out of juice in seconds throwing power punches. the combination of throwing punches and getting hit depletes a fighter of energy. remember though some people just arent heavy punchers figure out what kind of fighter you are and go from there. hope some of this works but to each his own.

  5. I think the first obvious step is to start up a strength training regimen.  By increasing muscle mass, you will likely increase your punching power.

Proper technique is also key.  Practice your punching motion, make sure that all of the motions are very fluid, practice your punching motion very slow and find anything that feels especially difficult or unnatural.  Try to remove that motion from you punches, as it likely will take away from your power.

Try to reduce unnecessary movements in your punches, as they will waste energy that could be transfered to whatever you are punching.  Also know that certain punching techniques are stronger that others.  Your straight arm jab will never be as powerfull as say your upercut or a hook.

It also helps to visualize your punch going through what you are punching, not stopping on impact, just because you hit your target doesn't mean you should stop the thrust of your punch.

I think these suggestions should help.
