How can i purchase discovery channel on directv?

I have directv and noticed that if you purchase the lowest priced channel tier, you don't get discovery. You have to move up to the second tier which is pricier but gives you channels like discovery. Check the directv channel guide that shouldve come with your receiver to be sure but i don't think you can purchase individual channels.
