  1. You can try the all-in-one DVD and video software, meet all your needs. It converts DVDs and videos to play on iPod touch/classic/video/nano, iPhone, Zune, PSP, video capable MP3 players, video capable mobile phones, and Pocket P.C., etc.

Also, you can google some other software:

  2. It will take a lot of memory and a lot of disk space.

Video takes a lot of both.  Hopefully you have about 1 Gig of RAM, and 50-100 Gigs of free disk space.

You MUST have enough free disk to do this.   Even an MPG2 (dvd encoding) 1 hour video consumes a good 1 Gig - 2 Gig of disk space, and you can assume that the UNENCODED raw video from the camera will take 30-50 times that.

Let's say 50 gigs/hour.   Let's assume you shot an hour of video and you are going to edit it down to under 10 minutes (the YouTube limit).

So, yes, if you have a 1 hour video on that camera, you might need 30-50 gigs of disk space to pull it in to the computer.

Then you can use iMovie (or some other program) to encode it to something like MPEG4, which will make it about 1/25 to 1/50 of its original size.  Let's say 1 gig/hour.

And if you edit it down to under 10 minutes, 1/6 of a gig, so about 150 MBytes.

Then, you upload THAT to YouTube.
