How can i put vhs tapes onto my pc?

I need to put some vhs tapes onto a pc then i will be putting them online, i'm not sure what format yet though, if you have any suggestions for that it would be greatly appreciated as well i am doing this for a school project.

You need a video to digital converter; this can be in the form of a card that you install internally, or via USB "tuner" card. They have input connectors that enable you to connect your VHS player to your PC.
