i'm turning 18 in a few months and my parents want me to be more mature and to "act my age". I love being free-spirited and happy, but my parents want me to be part of the "real world" and be more mature. How can i do this? I just want to by myself, but obviously that's not working. I want to be able to survive in the real world and i know i should be more mature, but how? please help me!

  1. Don't grow up...I never did, enjoy life and be happy

  2. easy

1.take responsibility for what you do

    2. take about things that you understand that a child wouldn't neciseraly ask, like do you think obama being black will affect the number of people who go out and vote

    3. show an inrterest in the news

    4. think about toneing it down a little

  3. slow down, nothing wrong with being immature as long as you still fullfill the criteria of making your parents proud. Don;t surrender your fun side as it makes it harder to face up to the responsibility of maturity and your far to young to be worrying about real life.

    Be happy and keep smiling.

  4. In a word: Travel.

You'll both be happy. You'll get to be free spirited and in the process will grow and mature.

  5. @writemad...shut up! Obama is running for president. Deal with it.

And to the author of this question: ENJOY LIFE! What is acting your age? I am 23 years old, very responsible, wise for my age, independent and open-minded yet I love dolls, cartoons, playing w/ children and having fun. So am I immature, now. No! I am in tocuh with my inner child. If more people get in touch with their inner-child then they would be a bit happier and less stressed. People are so bent on growing up fast. Let time grow you up. You cannot grow up on demand. Only life grows you up at the rate you are supposed to grow up. Be free-spirited and happy, as long as you are responsible and independent. Life is too short. And you are only 18. Be YOU!
