How can i raise money to help the poor childeren in peru get the medical attention they need?

I have a very trusted friend in Peru who has been working with the poor children in hospitals. She is asking for any money to help pay for operations that could save kids lives. Is there some way I could get a tax deduction for money I send there? If I try to have a fund raiser how can make people know its legit. Is there a way I could make a link on my web site so people can donate and the money go to these kids? Do you have any Ideas of how I can get money to help these children.

Either, a) Start a Non-profit of your own [ www.managementhelp.org/strt_org/strt_np/... or www.ctnonprofits.org/pages/NonprofitReso... for starters], and get rich people to give you money (they're often rich-guilty enough to do that :)

or b) find non-profits who provide assistance for needy children abroad (these folks, in Peru, might be able to start you in the right direction http://www.planeterra.org/peru.php, or contact local hospitals and ask who they receive aid from)

c) there are ways to take donations to your webiste, but you'll probably have to try step (a) above beforehand.

Your cause sounds like a noble one, but what about the children right here in this country that go everyday hungery, with proper shelter, clothing and love. Charity starts at home! By taking care of your own only then can the others be taken care of!
