How can i receive faxes to my yahoo email address?

i dont have a fax machine and need to receive faxes for my new job. i have a mac and cant get it to receive faxes, i have tried the free fax to emal sites but non of them seem to work or be reliable. any advice anyone???

Try a service called efax. It works with Mac and Yahoo email.

(ANS) First of all in order to be able to receive faxes to an email account you have to have special software that allows for that functionality. Some ISP's have such software setup on their mail servers. One such provider that offers this or used to offer this was F9 PlusNet.

**Your difficulties are compounded further I suspect by wanting this service combined with an Apple Mac as most of the services I've ever come across have been only for windows (sadly).

**Also bear in mind that faxing continues to be on a decline in a world dominated by email or secure encrypted emailing.

**Faxing is seen as old technology, plus its slow. Meaning that it uses transmission speeds of not more than 33,000 kbps (old dial-up modem speeds).

**NOTE: You cannot fax over broadband as such, well only the slower voice channel of the broadband anyway.

**I think your best chances of this working are a) find a dedicated software package that is Mac specific and gives you fax to email, there must be such programs. Or b) use one of the free online (web based) services that offer this kind of thing i.e. see mail2web or c) run a web search on Mac Fax to email.

**have you contacted Yahoo to ask them if their email account/service can receive faxes?

I think you should reconsider Internet faxing. Faxes are sent/received in your email inbox, so all you need to sign up is an email address. You can fax from anywhere, it's really easy and reliable.
