  1. Look at it's face. If it's all yellow then it's a male. If it's grayish yellow then it's a girl.

  2. Generally males have two orange circles on their cheeks which are more vividly coloured than that of the female. Males also have a loud singing voice once they have hit puberty.

  3. The orange ear patches are one indication, the lighter colored patches mean it's a female, the darker colored patches mean it's a male.

i hope i was good help.

  4. The check patches will be brighter on a male then a female. This is sometimes not very accurate though. Also under the wings a female will have light zig zag linesand the male will be solid.

The below feature some of the available cockatiel mutations and sexing information is also provided whenever available. However, keep in mind that immature birds look alike and it is difficult to s*x cockatiels until they have been through their first molt and the adult coloring shows, which usually occurs when they are six to nine months of age.

Other than the visual sexing that can be performed on mature birds, some breeders also check the pelvic bones as means of sexing a bird. The basic idea is that the pelvic of female cockatiels are more flexible and further apart -- as the egg has to be able to pass through it. It is actually pretty similar to the difference seen in human males and females.. Women usually have wider pelvic bones than males. This applies to cockatiels as well. However, just as is the case with humans, females can have "boyish" figures with narrow hips; and some males have wider hips. This also applies to cockatiels. Additionally, immature birds have wider pelvic bones. This all makes this method of sexing "iffy" at best.

Added: If you know what you are looking for then yes a cockatiel is one of the few that can be sexed by looking at the bird.

  5. Look at the tips beneath her wings, if they are straight, I think she is a girl.

  6. As it gets older. Its b*****s will form (like a duck) if its a girl. Another way to see is that the boy learns how to whistle quickly, while a girl has trouble learning.

  7. Don't listen to the other answers about orange cheeks! The only positive way is to get your bird DNA tested. You can't really tell by any other feathers either. I recently bought a bird and it looked almost exactly like one of my male birds and it just laid an egg yesterday! Just assume your bird is a boy and then if it lays an egg you can officially call it a girl. Choose a gender neutral name for the bird though or a boy name that can easily be changed into a girl's name if it happens to be female.
