How can i record a program and watch another live program at the same time?

depends on what kind of programing you have (cable, satellite?) and what kind of dvr you have..... is it a TiVo?

This can only be done, if the DishNetwork DVR is a Dual Tuner version.  If it's just a single tuner, all you can do is watch what's currently recording, or something that's already been recorded.

If your box is a dual tuner, most are, then when you are watching the show, you hit the swap button (usually on the bottom of the remote) and then you can change the channel safely.
