How can i record from an apex dt250 converter box into my sony slv 585 hf vcr

It depends on how you have it connected.  If you connected the RF out of the Apex to the RF in of the sony, and if you ran the auto scan function and found stations with the apex, they you probably forgot to turn the vcr to channel 3 or 4 (which ever the Apex is set to transmit on).

You will get a better picture using the RCA connectors instead of the RF out.  Then of course, you will have to set the vcr to record off the RCA inputs.
