I need help or advice on how i could reduce my time of 2:19 (fastest time last year) to at least 2:08. I'm in a one A school and need a way to reduce my time dramatically. I'm going to be a junior and hope to get a 2:00 when i am a senior. I play football and basketball, so I can't work out after school. I live in a very flat area that is dry.

  1. hmm well if you do a lot of cardio running in football and basketball you should gradually reduce your time. Do some lower body weights. Dead lifts, squats, leg curls, etc.

  2. football and basketball should help you stay in shape. just work hard during track, always go your hardest in practice. Don't worry, you have a lot of time left to get your time down. I ran 2:29 my freshman year and then didn't do it again until my senior year and I ran 2:00 and then my time came down as I actually trained for the 800 in the summer to 1:58 - 1:57 so just relax, do the work and you should see the results. be patient

  3. "you pace yourself and get a good start at the beggining. Sprint for about 100 meters and then jog the rest of the way except on the last 100 meters of the race sprint to get across the finish first. Get in about third or forth or fith place at the start and then gradually kreep up to the front.

a better way is to to do alot of sprint work outs ot increase speed and agility. do like 100, 200, 400, repeats. and do hills like sprint up it... then in race u get out in front and try to keep a good pace.. and try really hard to sprint last 100."
