How can i relate the valley of the fallen (in spain) to spanish culture?

  2. It was build by prisoners of War after the Spanish Civil war, to bury the Nationalist soldiers that had died during the war. A lot of people go there every year on the anniversary of Franco's death. If you ask me, it's a fascist symbol.

  3. It used to be a prison, under Franco. Lots of people were held, tortured and slaughtered there. Not just spanish people, but many others... since the Civil War with the International Brigades, lots of people from all over the World (but especially Europe) came to Spain to help.  It is now a fascist symbol. It has to do with the fact that they had a "peaceful" transition into Democracy, and places like these were left hanging around.

    Happily, it has not much to do with most spanish people.
