My 15 month old is getting her molars. I have given her tylenol and motrin in the past but they do not seem to work that effectively. She holds her cheek and screams (mostly at night), is that normal? The nurse at her Dr's office said yes, normal...but I'm not so sure....it's so extreme. She isn't sleeping well either. Her first Molar broke thru on Monday....how long will this last? Any tips to relieve her pain??

  1. Teething tablets.  They work wonders, you just place it on the tongue and it dissolves and baby is fine.  I stumbled across them when I was looking for gas drops when he had colic.

  2. teething tablets give her cold stuff to eat and drink like icecream

you can use teething tablets & tylenol together. plus you can baby orajel or something called hurricane gel to put on her gums

  3. I always used the water-filled teething rings...you chill them, and then the baby chews on them and the coldness makes their gums feel better...

another thing I used to do is wet a clean washcloth, and wring it out...then put it in the freezer until it is well-chilled...give it to your daughter to chew on...

Since it is warm outside, you can take her out in a diaper and an old shirt you don't mind ruining, or just give to her while she is in the bath, which I did...but feed her the tubes of ice-pops that you buy in the store and freeze...because there is a choking hazard, you will have to feed it to her, small bites at a time...

She will love the ice pops, and probably the other stuff, too...

Also, see if there is a product called Baby-jel still on the market...it is made by the same company that makes Ora-jel...you rub it on the baby's gums with your finger...

    Good luck!

  4. My daughter is 16 months but hasn't yet got her molars - at least I don't think so it's kind of dangerous putting my finger in her mouth these days!

I recently read that because molars are twice as big as normal teeth, it's twice as painful to come through the gum.  In the past for teething, I used advil at my doctor's recommendation.  It really works wonders and only takes about 10 minutes.

Hylands teething tablets also work, but for molars you may need to resort to advil.  Also, teething rings and frozen yogurt tubes.

  5. Teething tablets are absolutely the best.  It was always so hard for me to get my boys to hold the tablets under their tongue til they dissolved.  So I would be 2-3 tablets in a teaspoon and add just a drop or two of water and mix till i had a paste then rub that on his gums.  This worked like a charm.
