well, there was a blood stain on the mattress and i ended up using straight up bleach on the spot. it worked on getting the blood stain out but now the matress smells like bleach.

it's been a few days now and the mattress has this bleach smell when your near the spot. I've sparyed the mattress with some air fresheners and covered it with the bed sheets but i think i just made it worse because of all that stuff i read about mold. and now i think an old urine odor(the urine smell was disappeared long ago) was brought up because of the bleach.

now a small area of the mattress smells like urine and next to it smells like bleach. does anyone know any possible solutions to get rid of the odors? i can't get a new mattress, I'm running on a tight budget. (the odors are most problematic when your near the area. i.e. when you lay on the bed)

  1. 1] get some unscented Febreeze, and spray thoroughly.

2] take mattress off frame, and air outside for a while [ in sunny weather ] for 1 - 2 days

3] spray the back of mattress too

4] wash all the bedding [ sheets, blankets, spread or comforter ], too - it will have absorbed the bleach odor

5] burn some lightly scented or unscented candles in your room to remove odors.

  2. add some febrezze

  3. Put it out in the sun for a few hours.
