i was going to change a bottom door lock of a domestic volence client yesterday. i was able to change the top lock for her but removing the door k**b was a challege for me. you see i never seen a door k**b which did not have screws. i am not sure where to start with this door k**b removal. there appears to be two indentation on each side of the k**b. there are four on each k**b. I have done this plenty of times but i never seen this type of k**b. can anyone please explain how to i can remove this k**b? also i took pictures, do you know what kind of k**b is this? thanks. here is the link to the pictures http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0IaNXDZy5YsnFg

  1. As previously posted, the pics are a little crude.

There should be some sort of spring loaded "pin" in the neck of the k**b. If it`s not immediately obvious, sometimes the k**b has to be turned to expose the pin before it can be depressed.

  2. Some of my locks are like this. I jerk really hard on the k**b and it comes off, and the collar falls off and then you find the screws. This is  the way mine are.

  3. Not a real good picture to tell what brand, but it looks like the type you would have to take a small nail or simular object  and stick it in the hole on the shaft to release the k**b latch. Push in with the nail with one hand, hold, then quickly pull the k**b straight out, then remove the screws holding the plate. To reinstall ( if you wanted to) simply slip the k**b back on the shaft up to the k**b latch (it will stop there) push the latch with a nail and pop the k**b straight in.

  4. lThis lock disassembles from the inside part of the door. Look in the slot. One will have a push down button. Push it down with a thin blade screwdriver and Remove the k**b, then pop off the rosette. The screws are under the rosette.

  5. It looks like you can just pop a screwdriver into the slots and pry the k**b off.

  6. hi not sure who makes it but most k***s have screws  but some have a little spot on the k**b that can be pushed in with a object with a point like a  dowel looks like a ice pick but be careful using any sharp tools or you can sometimes use a very small s***w driver  push in groove and then you slide off the k**b and then theres a round cover that slips off and then you can un s***w it. and some have the shaft threaded and you turn it counter clock wise ,  chances are this will work ,

but if all else fails you can shut the door so it is secure and sturdy take a hack  saw and cut off the end of the k**b,

im a contractor  and i usally dont have to resort to this but ive had to use a recipercating saw or as some call it a sawzall before on damaged k***s

but im guessing theres a groove and it will simply come right off take your time

ive giving you best and worse scenarios,  hope this helps good luck
