How can i renew road tax?

Question

i got used car a weeks ago from car dealer...

i got car insurence and waiting for insurence registration forn...

but the car road tax expired yesterday...i have to renew new one.. can i apply apply for road tax disc when i get insurence registration form....someone say i have to wait the letter from dvla so i can apply...it gonna be take 4-6weeks....what can i do?please everyone help me!!!

as long as you have insurance certificate ( original not a fax or photo copy) or cover note, the registration document new owner part from the seller, current mot if required, you fill out a form i think its v10 which you can get off the dvla website and you can go to a main post office and buy your new tax disc, they will then send off your part of the registration document and dvla will send you a new one.

You can do it all on line with the DVLA who can automatically check that the vehicle is insured and has an MOT, its all automatic these days.

if you have paid your insurance then they should have given you a cover note for the first 30 days that is all you need to tax your car

on line as long as u have mot   in sure its easy   u will get a code just write it down and put  near yr old car tax to tell them thats it on it way

If you have the V5 (Log book) or V5c (green slip), your certificate of motor insurance. and your MOT if you need one, go to your local Post Office and they'll do it there for you. You'll get your Tax Disc there and then and won't have to wait for the DVLA to send it through the post.

go to the post office and ask the assistant for form v1 this will allow you to gain a vehicle excise disc you will need to fill in vehicle details but you will probably know them.you do not have to wait for your v5 if in doubt ask at the post office.
