  1. You can't...that's salesmen folklore.

I don't know how so many salemen were trained to believe that you just remove the old gas and replace it with new gas and all your problems go away, but plasma panels are not designed to do a gas exchange....

It would be like replacing the filament in a light bulb...

  2. all plasma displays start to fade after 2000 or so hours usage-some more than others.

the gas cannot be replaced-the design of plasma display units means this is impossible.

a good quality plasma can be expected to last 12-17 years   on four hours a day viewing provided it has been looked after.

  3. Yes, because it sounds dangerous. Take it to a shop.

  4. I was warned of this and that's why I would never buy a plasma screen. I was told the cost of replacement is about £200.00 but I cannot sustantiate that.

I think you will need to contact the retalier or the manufacturer.  If you get no satisfaction from the retailer try the manufacturer's web site.

    edit

I've just looked something up on the internet

A plasma TV display is an array of tiny gas cells sandwiched two sheets of glass, each cell acting like a mini fluorescent tube, emitting ultra violet light which then strikes red, green and blue spots on the screen.  These spots then glow to produce a picture.

It seems from this that there is more to it than just refilling with gas.

Apparantly a number of manufactures have abandoned the production of plasma screens in the larger size and one of these in Sony, Mitsubishi and Panasonic I believe.

I've looked at the net for plasma gas replacement but cannot find anything useful to direct you to.

  5. the gas can not be replaced.
