i stopped eating meat about 4 months ago.. I Want to know what I can eat to replace what my body is missing by not eating meat.

Also, I heard some people start gaining weight after cutting out meat, because their meals mostly consist of carbs.. Carbs are the only thing that keep me full ( whole wheats, cereal, popcorn) and i eat a lot of fruits and vegys that i end up being hungry half an hour later.. what can keep me full, and give me the energy and protein without gaining weight!

  1. tofu, nuts, beans...... soy in general

  2. Beans, nuts, and B12 capsules.

  3. alot of stuff have protien...

    Egg

    Milk

    Cottage cheese

    Yogurt

    cheesee

    Beans

    Tofu

    Soy milk

    Soy beans,

    Split peas,

    Peanut butter,

    Almonds

    Peanuts

    Cashews

    Pecans

    Sunflower seeds,

    Pumpkin seeds

eat smaller meals with more carbs more frequently... like have 5-6 small meals at day rather then 3 bigger meals... ur hunger will be more satified, and u have more energy.. u dont have long breaks between meals... it worked alot for me being a college student.......

but taking away the meat and fish can put ur protien intake down so u may want to try protien powder in shakes... or protien supplements

  4. yes you can eat tofu and beans and protein shakes...and peanut butter!

  5. With difficulty and uncertainty.

  6. Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentil, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help you if you see proof that vegan people have the same potential as anyone else.

  7. So you want to get more protein in your diet?  Keep in mind, though, most people get too much protein.  The lack of meat in your diet can be replaced by boca burger, or any other fake meat burgers.  These have just as much protein as regular meat does.  These fake meats also come in chicken, meatballs, ribs, turkey, hotdogs.

Also, nuts and seeds are good source of protein.  Go to your local library or bookstore and pick up a book on vegetarianism or veganism for a bigger list.

As for the whole "people get fat" thing when stop eating meat, that's basically a poor excuse for being lazy.  Beans (another great source in protein) are good when mixed with rice, put in a wrap like a burritto, or just plain, fill you up a lot.

I'm stuffed from my meal tonight, vegetable stir fry with tofu (another good source of protein).  Do more research.  You're on the right path to eating healthy, just don't do it the wrong way.

  8. I am a vegetarian too since my birth. You should drink milk and eat a lot of beans .Eat chickpeas, soy, hempseed, chia seed, amaranth, buckwheat and other kinds of nuts and seeds to have the protein.

  9. There is like protein supplements that you can take at GNC store.

  10. One of the most easily digested and filling beans are black beans

    sesame tahini is good

  11. soy beans, peanuts, sun chlorella (all proteins including b12), and no cutting out meat does not make you gain weight, it helps lose weight, i heard banana's help make you feel full and they are good with milkshakes and eating them plain :)

sun chlorella supposedly has 3-4 times more protein then beef per ounce but can be pretty pricey sometimes

  12. protein shakes are really good and also protein pills you can find them at kroger or giant eagle or wherever it is you get groceries

  13. I grew up a vegetarian and we ate vegetarian meat from canned foods.  It's a Worthington brand and has endless items to choose from as well as high protein.  Vegetarian meatballs, breakfast links, fake bacon, hot dogs, frozen lunch meat and much more.  Very tasty and can be use in many casserole dishes.  Try www.avnf.com and you can purchase these items or check your local natural foods store or check online for the nearest products.
