  1. Consider NASA's Clean Air Plant Study.  Having the right potted plants aroung the office will make your indoor environment healthier for all the employees.

  2. The company i worked for this summer used the program "greenpath."  It's an environmental plan for the entire company (Delaware North Companies).  It deals with recycling, each employee's role in the program and a bunch of other aspects.   I'd check out http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/greenP...  for some details.

Also i learned that no one's going to change their practices until it saves them money or is the same price.

    Good luck!

  3. Companies like saving money and the idea of having more money in their pocket. Maybe confront the head person and have graphs stating how much they would save if they just changed things a bit.

I always recycle cardboard, paper etc. when I am done with it that way it is going to a good cause and I don't have to use so many trash bags. It goes both ways.

You could also log onto www.freecyle.org and find your area and maybe recycle your or your companies unwanteds and maybe pickup some to save money too.

  4. Make it Flashy, yet effective.

  5. RE: Eco Business Day conference- 11/12/07

    Dear Business owner / manager,

When businesses are informed about the environment and told how they can make a difference, they usually stand back and state “going green is too expensive for me; it’s too much effort.” However, on the Tuesday 11th December 07 Dover Grammar School for Boys is hosting an Eco Business Day conference in conjunction with 4 other local secondary school students, which takes the environment from a business’ point of view: helping your business to save money, become more efficient and less wasteful by “going green”.

The day’s 3 workshops and 2 keynote guest speakers will give you handy hints and tips on what simple things you can do to be less wasteful (and thus help the environment and save your business money), supply and demonstrate eco-products and services you could buy or use, give information on “green grants” you can apply for to help you fund your eco-projects and how you can get these, help you reduce your carbon footprint, inform you of fair-trade products you could buy and help you save water, energy, C02 and aid you in creating an Eco Code. There will also be opportunities to sign up to our Recycling Scheme that will allow you to raise money for your local schools and charities.

This event is being organised, prepared and then preformed by student members of the Green Footprint Group- a new local pupils’ eco committee consisting of 5 local secondary schools, chaired by DGSB, and including DGGS, Archers Court, Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys and Simon Langton Grammar School for Girls.

The day will begin either at 12 pm or 4 pm (depending on your preferred choice- please see printed agenda and options on reverse) at Dover Grammar School for Boys, in the grand hall, on Tuesday 11th December. Dover and Channel Chambers of Commerce are supporting us and a lunch or tea will be provided. BBC News are also expected and even an environmental minister!

Thank you very much for your time and if you have any queries, questions or would like to book a free place on this conference please email your chosen option to DGSB-SchoolCouncil@hotmail.com.

    Yours faithfully,

    Jack Williams

GFG Chairman, DGSB EcoSchools co-ordinator, yr 12
