I am trying to download a very large file off of the internet but i am having many issues. I got to about 70% done (which took about a day) and accidentally closed the window which canceled my download. Then, i tried again using a download manager (FDM - Free Download Manager) and waited another day and a half for it to finish and it turns out it didn't actually download the entire file, making the other 1800mbs useless.

How can i resume a download without having to start from the very beginning? I already have most of the file on my computer.

I use Firefox.

  1. Well, if the place you download it from doesn't support resumed downloads, you can't unfortunately.

  2. The latest version of Firefox supports download resuming even if you accidentally close the download process or shut down Firefox.

Though there is one condition: the URL from which you download should be the same before shutting down Firefox and after restarting Firefox. If the source URL changes, the download resuming will fail.
