Well, for school, i took fitness this year.

We have to run a mile a couple times throughout the semester.

Last year in just regular gym i ran 1 mile in about 8 Minutes 15 seconds.

Thats not a very good mark when teachers mark you down on the report card.

So, I've have 3 weeks before we run our first mile.

I'm looking to get in the low 7 Minutes to High 6 Minutes.

Can any run fanatics out there help me out? I need not a few, but many tips and different workout plans i can do at home to improve my results on this run.

Maybe, running at the track near my house? 4 laps is a mile so.... Please can someone help me out here with what i can do to increase my endurance and become a better long distance runner and be able to run the mile faster, and in a shorter time without being tired out of my mind. Btw I'm 6ft 135 pounds.

  1. running 3 to 4 times a week alone will not help you it needs to be AT LEAST 5 times a week. also when you do run, run longer than 20 minutes. any less and its pretty much pointless to do. The key to running faster mile is train for endurance gradually increasing your weekly mileage ( no more than 3 miles above the week before) do that for a couple months then put in some workouts such as shorter harder runs or 400 intervals. tempo mile repeats. if all else fails start running cross country and track.

  2. running is simple the harder you work the faster you get so run more but run different types of workouts such as

1.fartleks or speedplay which is to run fast and than slow but mix it up

    2. long runs which for you would be about 4 maybe 5 miles

    3. speed workouts such as 800 meter repeats(2 laps) or 400 meter repeats(one lap) and do a few of those

just make sure to follow the most important rule which is hard day easy day

  3. If you don't stretch. Stretch. You have to stretch to make your body loose and not stiff. Relax. Breath. Swing your arms high up. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

    Respectfully,
