i've been on a good running schedule(I'm a sprinter btw) and then i got the beginning stages of a stress fracture in my shin and so ive been off for about 1 month and a half. i have a week left, but i used to be an amazing runner, and now i know i'll be a awful runner.i have like 6 and a half months till track, but i don't know how to get started and keep my cool cause i know i'll be frustrated that i haven't ran for a while.

**BONUS** if you do track and field tell me your times or distances for which events and that'll keep you in the running for 10 points.if you don't do track thats fine then.

  1. Speed is genetic with a little training about the blocks thrown in.  You have followed the resting period for the shin splints.   Have more faith that you will return to your old speed.  We don't need this "now i know i'll be a awful runner."  Stop with the negative vibes.  You can be as fast as your talent will let you. Try to forget the injuries.  It is part athletics.  Bite the bullet.  Good luck and have a great season.

  2. When you go back out to run the first time, don't push too hard. You don't want to re-damage anything. Keep working up to the point that you can run fast again. My last year of track i screwed up my achilles tendon and was out for the season. I walked on the treadmill for a half hour a day for two weeks to start.

I'm a freshman and my times are these:

    100m: 13.1s

    400m: 1.07s

  3. Well i was on my cross country team and they did these kids of warm ups and drills:

First we would run five times around the track which equals 1 and 1/4 miles at my school

    Then we would stretch

After that we would do high knees, butt kicks, and suicides. witch is running as fast as u can about 50 feet stooping for 3 seconds and doing it again for a good ten times

Then we would take a 5 minuet water break and run for about 5 miles around the track.

and by the end of it i found i had more endurance than be fore and i was a better sprinter 2

  4. If i where you i would Join the cross country team, it get you back into shape and even a better runner than you were in track hahaa. And if you dont plan on joinning the cross country team, join another sport to get into some kind of shape, and if you dont wanan join any sport, just run alone, or try to find a friend to run with, its So much easier to run with other people. Just run 30 min runs mostly every day, and if you could run 45mins take it easy for now, you got 6month no point of going hard.

    Also my times.

    Cross country-sophmore year

3mile 17:27 that was last year haven't ran it this year yet.

    Track-sophmore year

i only run 800 and 400 and ran the mile once on a time trial xD

    800-2:10

    400-55secs

1mile ran it once xD- 5:23

Im a junior now, and i havnt ran any races yet since the season just started

    hope i helped

    edit:

    ======================================...

oh well if you cant join cross country, then try to run by your self, but dont start out to hard, you dont wanna get another stress fracture, just go easy for the first few months, you got a LONG time before track starts
