  1. Reduce, reuse and recycle.

Don't buy it if you don't need it

    Don't purchase over packaged goods

Think about what and how you use things

Turn off lights when you leave a room

Turn off the water while you brush your teeth

Try to get 2-3 uses out of things that would be disposable (i.e. that microwave food tray can be used again as a drawer divider, that liquor bottle can have a pourer spout added to hold your dish soap, that piece of paper has 2 sides that could be written on, that greeting card can be used to make another or to glue to a gift box instead of wrapping it)

Capture water and reuse it (if you have to wait for the shower to warm up, place a bucket under the head and use that water for plants or the doggies drink)

Don't make unnecessary trips and try to stack them as efficiently as possible (plan your route in advance for right turns and efficiency)

Only run full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher to save energy

Keep your fridge and freezer full it takes the same energy to cool it full as it does empty

Take the savings on energy and purchases and start a savings plan.  Put the money in your savings first and keep it in an account which is difficult for you to access

  2. im 11 and i hav a bank account but thats 4 college money!!

ask ur parents 2 get u 1!! (but not 4 college)

  3. first off, honey, find a job that could sustain you. if you already have one, good :) if you can, you can do multiple jobs as well. when you have saved enough, i recommend opening a savings account in a bank. it could help a lot because savings accounts accumulate interest over time, hence you will be able to save more money than what you put in :) also, read up on articles found online about saving money. i'll put a few in the resource box okay?:)

  5. Wow...there are so many ways to answer that question. I would encourage you to keep a notebook for 30 days or so and write down every single thing you spend money on. You will start to see trends and places where money is disappearing.

For more information and motivation, there are numerous frugal living blogs out there that make great reads.

  6. You need to create a budget. Write down how much money you make monthly. Write down what you are spending monthly. Then come up with a plan where you can cut back expenses and use that extra money for savings. Also look at your credit card/bank statements and look where you money is going. Little purchases add up after awhile. I budget my money everymonth and it really helps

  7. 1. Pay yourself first - have money automatically deducted from your paycheck and put into savings or investments

    2. Don't charge purchases unless they are for medical or educational expenses.

    3. Analyze what your are spending money on e.g. clothes, after work drinks, latte's in the morning, jewelry, music, smokes? Save $2 a day and it is $700 per year and $7000 in 10 years.
