I have an old bt voyager 2000 which won't let me set up a wep encryption thing because of the age difference between laptop and modem........apparently.

I can see when other computers have connected as it says the number of computers (there are others in the house), but how do i check where/who they are?

Please don't give me a lecture on security unless you can provide a solution for my wep problem, i live on a quiet street in a small town, but i want to check,

A. Some one piggybacking isn't the reason for my recent slow down in speed.

B. Some git isn't trying to tap into the connection/my laptop.

No, i can't afford a mew modem.

Thank you!

  1. Your connection speed is unlikely to be due to people "piggybacking" - try the ADSL speed test ( http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.... ) - if you don't like the numbers, look at your connection strength.

Also, Bruce Schneier runs an open network - here's why : http://www.wired.com/politics/security/c...

Sorry - best I can do without a lecture on packet sniffing...
