I want to send a friend some money for her birthday but i know she will refuse it if i tell her in advance. So i cant ask for her bank account details. Would i be able to send a british bank cheque or voucher? would it cost them money to change it into New Zealand dollars?

Is there an easy way to do this?

Any ideas gratefully received.

  1. Money-gram transfer...............@ any post office

  2. Hello. If you go to your bank over there they will tell you how to change it over as i have to get money to change from Australia to Usa. It costs about $30 Aussie money to change it over. Just ask your bank as they will help you and just remember you will be able to send the cheque but it will take them about 28 to clear. I hope that helps you with your answer. Good luck...

  3. Use an International Money order from your local post office or use an international wire transfer service like Western Union.  You should be able to state how much it should be in the destination currency when you make one out.

  4. I think that the best way without asking for the bank account number would be a Western Union money transfer.

You go to any Western Union office near you (sometimes you have them in post offices) and order the money transfer. You can send it in their local currency.

When it's your friend's birthday, you just have to give them a reference number and with that, they can collect the money from any Western Union office near them.

They can't refuse it really because you have already sent it and it saves you from asking for an account number

There are Western Union offices pretty much everywhere too!

Don't send a cheque as it will cost a fortune to do this through the banking system as they will charge at source and at the other end and you may just find that they can't cash it.

There are also vouchers you can send for internet based services such as itunes or lastminute.com. This is sometimes a good way of giving a present to someone in another country.

  5. Sorry, but this question should be either in the UK or the New Zealand section.

NZ is a separate country from Australia

    Thanks
